Wimbledon College for boys
Edge Hill
London
SW19 4NS

The Wimbledon College was founded by the Jesuits in September 1892 in the front room of the Jesuit presbytery in Nursery Road, between Worple Road and the railway line from Wimbledon to Raynes Park. In 1945, the college became a voluntary aided Grammar School and in 1969 it became a comprehensive school. All students have access to ICT lessons in specialised computer laboratories. In addition, there are facilities for all subjects to integrate the use of ICT in their own areas. The college has first class sports facilities including a 25 metres long swimming pool and a newly equipped weights area. There is a field at the college, five rugby pitches at the Campion Centre and three more at the school grounds in Coombe Lane. Sport is offered at many levels in the college. Students can participate in inter-school sports and house sports. The college also offers a range of clubs and activities including photography, computing, judo, craft and design, art and pottery, table tennis, orchestra etc. In addition the college organises day visits as well as adventure holidays. There is an active Parents? Association that raises funds for the college and organises a number of social functions, which contribute to the community spirit of the college. The college aims to achieve the most for each individual so that it may work with Christ in building God?s kingdom in the world.

A virtually unmatched academic record.  90% of the girls go on to University with around 40% going to Oxbridge.  There are 650 pupils at the school from 10-19 and as you would expect the demand for places is high.  As well as being strong academically they have a fine musical tradition with 80% of girls learning instruments.

History
A Royal Charter founded the School in 1829 as the junior department of the newly established King’s College of the University of London. Based in the Strand, the School was an immediate success. Many early pupils became eminent in public affairs, the arts and sciences and for much of the nineteenth century it was the School’s financial strength which sustained the College.

Facilities
The School occupies seventeen acres on the south side of Wimbledon Common and owns a further twenty-four acres of playing fields. The School’s boathouse is on the Tideway at Putney.

Building and development have been almost continuous since 1945. Funded by fee income and generous support from parents and Old Boys, a £3 million building programme was completed in the 1980s and since 2000 similar support and funding have secured an Art and Design Centre, Junior School Science Laboratories and a new wing, incorporating Library, ICT and classroom facilities. The School opened its new science laboratories in December 2007.

Putney High School
Independent selective girls day school located in Putney

Welcome from the Head
Putney High School is an independent selective girls' day school located on a green and leafy site close to the heart of Putney in London. Spacious lawns surrounded by flowerbeds, shrubs and trees create a tranquil and secluded environment.

We are a school with a family ethos where each girl encounters stimulating personal and intellectual challenges, whilst receiving care and guidance. This ensures that all girls are successful in this happy, enriched environment. The girls here take pleasure in discovery and gain an understanding of the ways of life – they work together to engage in discussion, to challenge the opinions of each other and those from outside.

We anticipate that each girl will contribute in her own individual way to our school, through her studies and many other activities including art and design, drama, music, sport and through charity and working with the local community.

Students leave here conscious of their own worth, prepared for an independent life and capable of making a positive contribution to society. It is from this basis that they go on to pursue a variety of fulfilling careers.

Established in 1893, we are well known for providing the challenge of a rich and broad education to bright girls from 4-18. When a girl joins the school she is supported and encouraged to make the most of her own gifts. At Putney the girls are able to develop the self-confidence they need to take intellectual risks and thinking skills which allow them to make sound judgements about the world around them.

Do come and visit, meet our girls and see this for yourself!

Thank you for visiting our website, and welcome to this vision of what we are and what we are seeking to do.
St Paul's is the most vibrant, exciting and rewarding educational community I have known, and we rest on three pillars of strength - scholarship and academic achievement, extra-curricular involvement and pastoral care.

Most of all we rest on people - our staff and our pupils - and please may I extend the warmest possible invitation to you to come and visit us and meet the people who make this place what it is.

I look forward to meeting you.
