Blades restaurant
94 Lower Richmond Rd
London,
SW15 1LL

020 87890869
Blades is an unpretentious Italian restaurant in London, which is pretty much like what you would expect see in small restaurant in Northern Italy. The menu is only a couple of pages long, complemented by the “specials” on the blackboard, and although they don’t seem to change very often, the selection is good The staff, and the owner, are very good with kids, and are happy to prepare something a bit off the menu if your kids are a bit particular about what they eat. Blades carries a good selection of wines, and is reasonably priced for London, but I would call it good value for money, instead of inexpensive. The place is small, so it is a good idea to make a reservation if you are planning to have dinner on a Friday or Saturday, but on other days you can probably just walk in.

Nuovi Sapori

Phoenix Bar & Grill
162-164 Lower Richmond Road
SW15 1LY

020 8780 3131
Although situated in a part of Putney that has yet to be glamorised, the same cannot be said of the romantic, weatherproof terrace & spacious interior dining rooms of this quality local. An interesting modern art collection adds focus to the design, but it’s the modern, Anglo-Italian food that really makes this place worth a visit. There’s a set menu available most of the time, & the service is delightful.

BARNES

Sonny's
94 Church Rd
London
SW13 0DQ

020 87480393
The Barnes faithful have kept Sonny’s thriving for almost a quarter of a century. It’s part of a trio of neighbourhood restaurants run by Rebecca Mascarenhas, including the Phoenix and 11 Abingdon Road . The white-painted back room with its glass-brick wall is more relaxed than the brighter front area, though the low ceiling means it can be noisy. The eclectic artworks should provide a talking point if conversation flags. There’s much to like: staff are efficient and amenable, the wine list is pleasing, the set menus are nicely priced.

Annie's

Annie’s is a little find in Mortlake! It is classed as a pub, but it is more restauranty for sure. The interior is beautifully decorated muted colours, warm and cosy, with candles burning and gilt-edged mirrors handing on the walls. Bistro menu cooked well.

The Light House
75-77 Ridgeway
SW19 4ST
Presentation is everything at The Light House - each dish arrives looking as if genuine care has been taken in its preparation. The tasting does not disappoint. Purveyors of 'eclectic' cuisine often manage to combine flavours, which are simply unacceptable to the palate, however they are presented. Here, things are entirely different with each dish purveying a myriad of well matched ingredients.
